How I Dared to Take Up Space and You Can Too

Daring to Take Up Space

I’ve always been a shy person. I’m the one who sits in the back of the classroom and never raises my hand. I’m the one who never volunteers for presentations or public speaking. But lately, I’ve been feeling like I need to change. I’m tired of being invisible. I’m tired of being afraid to speak my mind. I’m ready to take up space.

I know that it won’t be easy. I’m going to have to push myself out of my comfort zone and challenge myself in ways that I never have before. But I’m also excited. I’m excited to finally be living my life to the fullest. I’m excited to finally be the person I’ve always wanted to be.

If you’re like me, and you’re tired of being invisible, then I encourage you to join me on this journey. Let’s dare to take up space. Let’s be seen. Let’s be heard.

I’m a big fan of Bren Brown’s work, so I was excited to read her new book, “Daring to Take Up Space.” This book is full of practical advice on how to be more assertive and confident in your life. I found it especially helpful in the chapter on “Setting Boundaries.” I’ve always been a people-pleaser, and I often find it difficult to say no to people. But after reading this chapter, I’m feeling more empowered to set boundaries and take care of myself.

I also appreciated the chapter on “Owning Your Story.” Brown encourages us to embrace our stories, even the difficult ones, and to use them to create a more meaningful life. This is something that I’ve been working on in my own therapy, and it’s been really helpful.

Overall, I really enjoyed “Daring to Take Up Space.” It’s a book that I’ll definitely be coming back to again and again.

(Benedict O’Neill)

I’ve always been a bit of a procrastinator. I’m the type of person who puts off doing things until the last minute, and then I end up stressed and rushed. But after reading “The Once-a-Week Strategy to Stop Procrastination,” I’ve finally found a way to break my bad habits.

The book’s premise is simple instead of trying to change your entire life all at once, you just focus on one thing each week. For example, if you want to start exercising, you don’t sign up for a gym membership and start going every day. Instead, you start by committing to working out for just 30 minutes once a week.

This approach is really effective because it’s easy to start and it’s sustainable. You’re not trying to change everything all at once, so you’re less likely to give up. And because you’re only focusing on one thing at a time, you’re more likely to see results, which will motivate you to keep going.

I’ve been using this strategy for a few months now, and it’s been amazing. I’ve started exercising regularly, I’m eating healthier, and I’m getting more work done. I’m so glad I read this book!

(Myrtle Mccann)

I’m a recovering procrastinator. I used to put off everything until the last minute, and I was always stressed and anxious about it. But then I read “The Once-a-Week Strategy to Stop Procrastination,” and it changed my life.

The book taught me that procrastination is a habit, and that it can be broken. It also taught me that the key to breaking the habit is to start small. Instead of trying to change everything all at once, I just focused on one thing at a time.

For example, I started by setting a goal to read for 30 minutes every day. At first, it was hard to stick to it, but I kept at it, and eventually it became a habit. Once I had that habit down, I started setting new goals for myself.

Now, I’m a productive, organized person who gets things done. I’m so glad I read this book! It’s the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.

Why Daring to Take Up Space is Necessary

As a woman, I have often felt the need to shrink myself down in order to make myself smaller and less threatening. I have been told to be quiet, to not take up too much space, and to let others go first. This has been a constant refrain throughout my life, and it has had a profound impact on my sense of self.

I have learned to doubt my own voice, to second-guess my opinions, and to always put others before myself. I have been afraid to stand up for myself, to speak my mind, and to take up space.

But I am learning that it is necessary to dare to take up space. It is necessary to be seen, to be heard, and to be valued. It is necessary to let my light shine bright, even if it makes others uncomfortable.

Daring to take up space is not easy. It is a challenge to overcome the fear of being judged, rejected, and criticized. But it is a challenge that is worth facing.

When we dare to take up space, we are not only making a difference for ourselves, but we are also making a difference for the world. We are showing others that it is okay to be different, to be bold, and to be unapologetically ourselves.

We are showing the world that women are powerful, that we deserve to be heard, and that we have a right to take up space.

So if you are a woman who is tired of shrinking yourself down, I urge you to dare to take up space. Speak your mind, stand up for yourself, and let your light shine bright. The world needs you.
